Senator
Fran Millar has continuously sought and obtained Target Assistance Grants for
Refugee Resettlement (RR) in GA
According to the terms of these
grant, DeKalb gets 85% of all refugees coming to Georgia. Millar consistently
contends that he has no choice but to participate in the RR program.
Provided below are answers from the
GA Department of Human Services to questions about the RR Program and Georgia's
participation that say otherwise.
When we send out our newsletters that
include information about Sen. Millar's participation in the RR Program and his
seeking Target Assistance Grants for RR in DeKalb Millar responds to us via
email. He says, "If you want to stop the program talk to the Washington
reps and senators." and says "People know this is a federal
program. The AG confirmed and you obviously can't handle the truth. I continue
to get the same ?? - sent from my iphone"
Millar’s response is completely
contradictory to the GDHS replies below and (as expected) inarticulate.
The federal funds/grants only
support the refugees for the first 90 days. The longer we participate in the RR
program, the more the Georgia taxpayers (especially DeKalb) have to spend on
the refugees after the federal funds are gone. We CAN get out of the Refugee
Resettlement BUSINESS.
Thanks a
lot FRAN!
