Israel says Merry Christmas

Netanyahu Destroys Liberals’ “War on Christmas”… Post Gets 4,000 Likes Per Hour

We have all heard or seen elements of the left’s “war on Christmas,” a key tenet of which is their insistence that non-Christians are excluded and offended by the holiday and Christians should, therefore, lay off the breadth and intensity of their celebrations in order to be more tolerant and inclusive of others not sharing their faith. According to a story in the Conservative Tribune:

But that key tenet to the “war on Christmas” was just blown away by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who offered up an incredible message of open-mindedness and tolerance for devotees of a faith different than his own, according to the Jewish News Service.

“To all of our Christian friends around the world, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!” Netanyahu said in a video posted to Facebook that received more than 24,000 likes in the first six hours it was online.

“I send you these greetings from Jerusalem,” he continued. “I’m standing in the courtyard of this magnificent International Christian Embassy. I’m so proud of our relations with our Christian brothers and sisters.”

To those Christians who have traveled to visit Israel, Netanyahu shared in their wonder and experience of seeing the incredible historical sights, such as, “(T)he Church of the Holy Sepulchre or the Via Dolorosa or the Sea of Galilee or Nazareth. I’m sure it moved you deeply.”

“And it moves us deeply to have this bond with you because we all know that this land of Israel is the land of our common heritage,” he stated. “It changed the story of humanity, it changed civilization. What a magnificent heritage it is.”

“Yet, we also know that it is under attack these days, that the forces of intolerance, of barbarism that attack all religions attack Christians with particular vehemence,” Netanyahu noted.

“We stand with you and I’m proud of the fact that in Israel, this is the one place in the Middle East that the Christian community not only survives but thrives, and it’s no accident. It’s because of our commitment to religious freedom; it’s because of our embrace of our heritage; it’s because of our embrace of our common future.”

He ended his Christmas message with an invitation for all Christians to come and visit with him and others in Israel, which you can watch right here:

This is how a real leader delivers a Christmas message, according to Conservative Review. Israel is the only place the takes care to preserve the sites considered holy to Christians, and is the only place that allows them to worship openly and share their faith without fear of repercussion.
