In 5000 BC, Arabs were
tracking with Europeans and North Africans and Chinese in establishing
technological advances and trade. All
were establishing language, writing, mathematics and inventing labor saving
devices. They learned to melt ore into metal and plant crops for harvest. They
established mathematics and astronomy and ship-building for trade. Arabs were
popular.
Empires grew around
Egypt, Persia, Greece and Rome and all traded with the Arabs who were positioned
to establish trade with goods from China and the East. Even though Arabs
battled their neighbors, Arabs remained popular with those they didn’t attack
from 5000 BC to 600 AD.
Between 600 and 632
AD, Mohammed established the Muslim religion, published the Koran and formed a
brutal Muslim army to conquer the Middle East with instructions to “convert”
the conquered to Allah and kill all who refused to convert”. Arabs began to
lose their popularity.
From 700 AD to 1400
AD, Islam spread throughout the Middle East.
In 1453 Muslims conquered Constantinople and established the Ottoman
Empire. Muslims attempted to invade Europe and were eventually extracted from
Spain in 1492. The Polish army defeated the Muslims in 1667. Arab popularity
was worse than bad.
In 1700, the Ottoman
Empire was beginning to be held in check by the Austrians and the Russians.
The Ottoman Empire
ended in 1920. The Ottoman economy was disrupted by inflation, caused by the influx of precious
metals into Europe from the Americas and by an increasing imbalance of trade
between East and West. As a result, the prosperity of the Middle Eastern
provinces declined. After centuries of war, Arab popularity was toast.
In 1922, King Tut’s
tomb was discovered and Arab popularity had a temporary resurgence and the
“Sheik of Araby” record was released. In
1926, TE Lawrence published his book describing his experiences in Arabia and
the “Sheik of Araby” movie was a hit. Arab popularity had been restored for a
while.
In the 1980s, Muslims
began to hijack and blow up commercial airliners. In 2001, Muslims hijacked
airliners and flew them in to the Twin Towers and the US invaded Afghanistan
and then Iraq. In 2010, the “Arab Spring” destabilized the entire Middle East.
Civil war broke out and continued to rage in Somalia and Syria. Muslim terror
groups invaded Yemen, several countries in Africa and continue to operate in
Palestine and Afghanistan.
Muslim refugees were
invited by the UN to reinvade Europe and the US and they didn’t behave
themselves. Arab popularity is low and may never recover in the West.
For the US, the weapon
of choice to change behavior is trade. We will cut off trade with the Muslim
extremist bad guys and increase trade with the Arab good guys.
