College Enrollment Down

Savannah State University enrollment is down according to AJC article 10/18/18, page B8 “Sliding enrollment, revenue mean cuts”.

Enrollment dropped from 5000 to 4400. This gave them a budget drop from $121 million to $107 million.

Residents of Georgia pay an annual total price of $16,999 to attend Savannah State University on a full time basis. This fee is comprised of $3,965 for tuition, $7,592 room and board,  $1,600 for books and supplies and $1,778 for other fees.

The University offers Associates and Bachelor degrees in Biology, Chemistry, Forensic Science, Math and Engineering Technology degrees in, Civil, Computer Science and Electronics. They offer BS and MS degrees in Marine Science, BS in Environmental Science.

Some government jobs like environmental science have dried up for new grads due to reductions in regulations. Otherwise, students can get degrees that allow them to work as Electronics Technicians (ASEET), Applications, Test, Service and Sales Engineers (BEET). Civil Engineers (CET), Chemists, IT Staff and others. There are actually real jobs for these grads and the tuition is competitive with Community Colleges.
