Georgia Legislation Voter Survey

WE Survey SEP 1, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 by , The Weekly Enumerator

SURVEY DEADLINE: Tuesday, SEP. 8, 2015

SURVEY QUESTION:

The Georgia House Ways and Means Committee met this past week to consider legislation offered by Marietta’s Representative John Carson in February of 2015 on changes to the State income tax. The proposed bill lowers both personal (-2%) and corporate tax (-1%). The revenue lost is recaptured by increasing sales taxes and adding new sales taxes to groceries (+5%), “digital good” (e-books, etc.) (+1%), and tobacco (+28 cents). The current bill exempts seniors (65+) from the grocery tax.
