England's Flag Suppressed as 'Racist' to Muslims, by Kerry Lear, 4/28/16
In an effort to be
“politically correct,” the Bristol City Council refused to commemorate St.
George’s day this last Saturday. A city council spokesperson said that they
“don't normally tend to do anything for the holiday as Bristol is a city with
91 different languages and it would be very difficult to commemorate them
all."
However, locals of English
heritage are frustrated that their own history is suppressed to not insult
others. This holiday dates back to 1222 A.D. and it is the equivalent to
America’s 4th of July. The English flag is based on the patron
Saint George.
Apparently, the flag can
frighten other cultures.
“According to the Daily
Star Sunday, Kalphna Woolf, founder of 91 Ways to Build a Global City, which
aims to unite Bristol's multicultural communities, said people can be
frightened of the white and red St George's flag.
She said: "There was a
point in the past when I'd see the St George's Day flag flying and it would
frighten me, as it had been taken over by 'we are England' type
groups." The Express wrote.
But, England tiptoes around
anything that could be considered racist. Would a country that doesn’t accept
other cultures import 300,000+ immigrants every year? All of which are given
access to welfare and other benefits immediately.
Not to mention, the English
flag has been banned but Islamists are allowed to wear the ISIS flag.
This isn’t the first time
that the English flag has been condemned by its own government. Government
officials of Radstock in Somerset banned displaying the English flag back in
2013 in order to not offend the whole 16 Muslims in the town.
So how do Muslims really
feel about the flag?
“To say that Muslims are
offended I don’t think is correct. We understand the flag is part of this
country’s heritage, and in fact many Muslims will indemnify as being British
themselves,” said Rizwan Ahmed, spokesman for the Bristol Muslim Cultural
Society.
Next time government
officials should actually communicate with the multicultural residents, instead
of just assuming they are offended. Consequently, the English were left to feel
insulted on their own soil.
Editor's note: This
is an example of political correctness run amuck. An 800 year old symbol
suppressed because it offends Muslims, but the Muslims don't appear to know
they are supposed to be offended. Perhaps there is some irrational fear
of Muslims in Europe. What do you think?
