Virginia’s Democrat Governor Caught Up in FBI Corruption Investigation!

Virginia’s Democrat Governor (and former Democrat National Committee Chairman), Terry McAuliffe (D-VA), is facing some pretty serious heat after word leaked earlier this week that he, like presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, is being investigated by the FBI.

Virginia Democratic Gov. Terry McAuliffe is the subject of an ongoing investigation by the FBI and prosecutors from the Justice Department’s public integrity unit, U.S. officials briefed on the probe say.

The investigation dates to at least last year and has focused, at least in part, on whether donations to his gubernatorial campaign violated the law, the officials said…

Speaking to reporters Tuesday, McAuliffe said he was “shocked” by the investigation and that it “has nothing to do with the Clinton Foundation.”

“This was an allegation of a gentleman who gave a check to my campaign,” McAuliffe said. “I didn’t bring the donor in. I didn’t bring him into the Clinton foundation. I’m not sure if I’ve even met the person, to be honest with you.”

Among the McAuliffe donations that drew the interest of the investigators was $120,000 from a Chinese businessman, Wang Wenliang, through his U.S. businesses. Wang was previously delegate to China’s National People’s Congress, the country’s ceremonial legislature.

“Neither the Governor nor his former campaign has knowledge of this matter, but as reported, contributions to the campaign from Mr. Wang were completely lawful,” Elias said.

While McAuliffe may argue that there have been “no allegations of wrongdoing,” the FBI sure seems to see things differently. The FBI made it clear to CNN on Tuesday that they were not investigating wrongdoing by the Clinton Global Initiative, but were instead focusing on McAuliffe and his electoral campaign donations. (On a side note, it must be nice for the Clinton Foundation to finally not be the focus of a corruption scandal.) This, in and of itself, would seem to indicate that while the FBI has not made any “allegations,” they are most certainly concerned that Governor McAuliffe has broken federal law.

What is amazing is just how many Democrat officials have been going down for corruption and lawlessness in recent weeks. Sure, most of them are from New York, but McAuliffe simply seems to be a continuation of a larger trend of Democrat corruption.
