The first
victims of becoming a “protected group” were the American Indians, who were
shuffled off to “Reservations” to continue their cultural practices rather than
being “assimilated” into becoming Americans. This was a mistake but is now
protected by the bureaucracy and the Democrats who love to expand protected
groups to pander to their victim base.
We now
have Mexicans and Muslims forming communities and wanting to continue their own
customs while not assimilating and they are noisy, threatening, demanding and
dangerous. We want them to “assimilate” or go back to their home countries.
We do
have a multi-generational, intact farming community from Finland living in the
upper Midwest, but they are quaint and peaceful like the Amish. We are fine
with these unassimilated groups in the US, because they don’t cause any
trouble.
The path
of least resistance in immigration is to let these immigrants settle within
their own ghettos, but be educated in government schools and eventually break
ranks and marry partners from other national groups. But that process should be
limited to legal immigrants who are granted a path to citizenship and it should
only include the best and the brightest.
The
evolution of the Democrat base has weaponized groups to fight for their
“rights” that includes things that are not “rights” like housing, food, cash
and free stuff. This is extremely attractive to immigrants from third-world
countries, so you won’t find any Democrats who support assimilation.
For the
“feed the poor” gang, I would remind you that St. Paul wrote: ‘those who will
not work should not eat’. Allowing immigrants to be eligible for welfare was
another big mistake.
