Intellectual Property

The companies who gave away their intellectual property to China in return for access to Chinese consumers got screwed.  It’s their fault and they will suffer for this.  It’s unfortunate that many of these are our largest global companies. Their future losses to Chinese replacements will have an adverse impact on US GDP and the US economy.

Companies are sovereign legal entities and are free to move their headquarters and operations to other countries and some companies have done this.  US companies have also been acquired by foreign parent companies.  When this occurs, they often have a US Headquarters, but the patents are held by the foreign parent companies.
