US Manufacturing Priorities

The US needs to pull back all technology manufacturing back to the US to protect intellectual property. We don’t need to make toys, we need to make things that increase productivity.

The US needs to design and manufacture high speed automation production equipment and resume leadership in electronics and software development.

Japan is the leader in developing automated equipment used in electronics production. China is the leader in developing equipment that is used in high-volume, high-speed manufacturing. Germany is the leader in machine tools.

From 1960 to 2010, the US developed the technologies required to produce full automation and solved the quality problem.  During the same period, our foreign competitors were paying close attention and were taking advantage of our weak trade policies and wrong choices.  American companies actually entered in partnership with foreign companies and ended up stealing all of our technology.

These foreign companies get the credit for improving on our technology and producing superior products. Japanese automobiles now dominate the US with Germany not far behind. The same happened with heavy construction and agricultural equipment. Now the Chinese are making our smart phones, flat screen TVs and all other electronic appliances. The best we can do now is to force foreign companies to make everything we buy in plants on US soil using US employees.

Ross Perot was right; NAFTA was economic suicide.
