The future of many
Muslim countries depends on their oil and natural gas reserves.
Saudi Arabia stands
alone in the Middle East with high Nominal Per Capita GDP at $21,120 operating
a successful oil economy. Here a monarchy does better than “democracy”.
Iran and Iraq have
potential and have Nominal Per Capita GDP in the $5,000 range.
Civil war in Syria has
depressed PCGDP bottoming out at $1,700. In Afghanistan, terrorist and tribal
factions reject the national government with an abysmal PCGDP at $565.
Pakistan’s low PCGDP
at $1,641 can be traced to its 200 million population.
India is not a Muslim
country, but it’s low PCGDP at $2,134 is due to its 1.3 billion population.
Nominal per capita GDP
2018
Saudi Arabia $21,120
Iran $5,383.
Iraq $5,165
India $2,134
Syria $1,700
Pakistan $1.641
