UK Economy


The population of the UK is 67 million with a land area of 93,628 square miles covering England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Labor force is 33 million. 

Inflation is 1.8%.Unemployment is 3.9%. Poverty is 22%. Labor force by occupation is agriculture 1.5%, industry 18.8%, services 79.7%.

The Nominal GDP of the UK in 2018 was $2.88 trillion and was the 5th largest economy on the planet. GDP growth was 1.5%. GDP by sector was agriculture 0.6%, industry 19.2%, services 80.2%.

The Nominal Per Capita GDP was $44,177 and was the 22nd largest per capita GDP.  Ease of doing business 9th.

Exports were $412.1 billion of manufactured goods, fuels, chemicals, food, beverages and tobacco sold to US 14.6%, Germany 10.1%, Switzerland 7%, China 6%, France 5.9%, Netherlands 5.8%, Ireland 5.5%.

Imports were $281.6 billion in manufactured goods, machinery, fuels and foodstuffs purchased from Germany 14.8%, China 9.8%, US 9.2%, Netherlands 7.5%, France 5.8% and Belgium 5%.

Government revenue was $984 billion, spending was $1.11 trillion. Debt to GDP is 85.8%. Foreign reserves $164.2 billion.


Comments

The UK occupies a land area smaller than Michigan. London is the wealthy city with a higher salaries and a higher cost of living. The majority of UK voters are borderline poor.with a totally disconnected Parliament. Taxes are high and household incomes are low.
