Global Temperature Cycles

The Pre-History Ice Age ended in 11,700 BC. It caused temperatures to be 10 degrees to 40 degrees Fahrenheit depending on location. It appears that we survived this arctic temperature test.

General observations are well known. It’s warmer in valleys than it is in mountains and higher elevations. It’s warmer in deserts and cities because of reflectivity and absorption.
It appears that “man-made” carbon emission into the atmosphere is irrelevant.

Temperatures are warmer near the Equator and grow colder at the Poles. Temperatures vary with the seasons with warmer temperatures in Summer and colder temperatures in Winter. Warming from our sun varies with the seasons and variations on the orbit, tilt and wobbling of the Earth.

The Medieval Warming Period was 800 AD to 1400 AD. It is thought to be similar to today when crop yields were high and polar ice receded to allow ocean exploration. That would suggest that we would be better off with more global warming, not less.

The Little Ice Age began in 1500 AD and ended in 1850 AD. It was a period dependent on wood and oil burning for warmth and light. We also began using coal to power steam engines to power mills, pumps, trains and factory equipment.

Our current temperature cycle has been a Warming Period from 1850 to Present.  Temperatures in the US are warmer in Southern States and colder in Northern States. Summer temperatures generally range from 70 degrees F to 90 degrees F. winter temperatures range from 30 degrees F to 70 degrees F.

Land erosion and sinking on coasts is caused by ocean erosion of land through currents and wave action. Tectonic plates are always moving and cause earthquakes and volcanic activity. If we wonder what a warmer earth would look like, we can take a look at the Amazon Jungle to find what to do if more of the planet became jungles.

It has been suggested that the volcanic activity millions of years ago caused moisture to rise in the atmosphere to create the oceans with massive rainfall. This is another theory we cannot prove. We live on a wild planet in a wilder universe, so strap in and enjoy the miracle.
