Rand Paul Supporters go to Trump and Cruz

Rand Paul might have been doomed from the start, perhaps he carries the curse his father was under every time he ran for President.

That’s why on Wednesday the third of February Paul announced to supporters and the world he would be withdrawing from the race for the White House.

Though Paul is out of the race he has declined to endorse another candidate at this point. However, that hasn’t stopped one of his major donors from endorsing one of the other candidates.

Tech entrepreneur Scott Banister has long been an ally to the liberty movement. The angel investor, IronPort founder, and PayPal board member donated $3 million to a Rand Paul supporting Super PAC, and has been a vocal supporter of the libertarian Republican.

Now that Rand Paul is out of the presidential race, Banister has thrown his support behind Ted Cruz. Cruz is a self-described constitutional conservative who earned the endorsements of both Rand and Ron Paul in his 2012 Texas Senate race.

Cruz’s relationship with the Paul’s soured somewhat during the campaign, particularly as he employed more hawkish undertones on foreign policy, and didn’t show up for Rand Paul’s recent Audit the Fed vote in the Senate.

To many Paul supporters however, Cruz seems like a logical second choice despite his imperfections. At the very least, he has stood against the U.S. pursuing regime change abroad, and demonstrated some degree of willingness to reform the NSA.

The reactions are mixed on this. As Rare noted many voters who lean more Libertarian are off put by Cruz’s hawkishness. They’re afraid his rhetoric regarding what to do in the middle-east could very well incite World War III. On the other hand other voters see Cruz as a solid conservative with strong, constitutionally minded values that pick up where Paul left off.
Though it remains to be seen where Paul’s support will end up you can be sure of one thing. Cruz certainly will enjoy the support of Bannister.

As a long-time Ron Paul fan, it was easy for me to trust that Rand Paul knows what must be done to turn this country around.  Ron Paul warned the Congress for 30 years and was dead-on with his predictions.  I can trace every problem we have back to every unconstitutional act the federal government has ever committed.  This treason needs to be completely reversed.

I switched to Trump early. He put the real issues front and center and has proven to be immune to political correctness.  This will be necessary, because Congress is 80% Liberal.

As a Constitutional Conservative, I like Ted Cruz and am completely comfortable that Trump and Cruz will ensure a GOP victory in November.
