Type II Diabetes is a symptom of a lack of exercise, minerals and vitamins.  When your blood sugar goes above a certain level for a certain amount of time, this is your body’s way to compensate for your body trying deliver blood sugar to your cells. Heavily processed foods like soda, fried pastries, candy and other sweets plus a lack of exercise results in too much blood sugar.  The craving is for minerals like magnesium, zinc, chromium selenium and vitamin D (and get more sunlight).  But cravings that make us think we need chocolate or chips are caused by our lack of minerals and vitamins and full-spectrum salt like sea salt.  Take mineral supplements.  Avoid aspartame found in diet soda.
