Media Perspective

The media has reached a low point in hosting Presidential debates. To see this for yourself, you have to google past debates.

I watched the 1960 Kennedy / Nixon debates televised by NBC, ABC and CBS https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hdVHFESjTsE  The debates in 1960 were more substantive and less trivial.  The media asked more policy questions.  The answers given by the candidates were direct.  Voters could listen to this debate and know exactly how each of these candidates would approach their policy decisions and why. Also, the lobbying to involve the federal government in education and healthcare was evident.

In 1960, the US was at the top of the lists that measured economic freedom and education.

In 2016, the US Economic Freedom Index ranking for the US is 11.   http://www.heritage.org/index/.  In Education, the US ranks 17.  http://www.mbctimes.com/english/20-best-education-systems-world

Now watch the 2016 Presidential debates to see how trivial they’ve become.  The questions asked by the media are trivial and distract from the policy proposals voters need to understand.

Presidential debates now more nearly resemble the Jerry Springer Show. Voters are purposely being distracted from the real issues.
