Trade Agreements

The US needs bi-lateral trade agreements with countries who will be able to offer reciprocal trade. The US should be able to continue to shun trade with Iran, Venezuela, Cuba, North Korea, China, Russia and any other country we put sanctions and tariffs on. That leaves all the other countries that have the opportunity to increase exports and get better prices on imports.

Price is the ultimate arbiter of trade.  If the price is low and the products are good, the low bidder will win the sale and the buyer will get a good deal. Tariffs are being used to bring manufacturing jobs back to the US, but these are targeted to allow US manufacturers to supply American consumers with goods from critical industries for defense and high tech industry sectors to protect intellectual property and provide higher paying jobs in the US.

Bi-lateral trade agreements will allow the trading partners to concentrate on allowing both countries to improve their import and export trade. Trade with the US will require reciprocal trade that would result in making each other’s exports and imports closer in dollar volume. Countries who have an abundance of oil, natural gas have the advantage in trade, because all countries need these and many countries are not able to provide for their oil and gas needs. With these countries, the US will sell oil and gas to them and import more goods from them to achieve reciprocity.
