North Korea Economy


Population of North Korea is 25.6 million and land area is 46,540 square miles. Labor force was 14 million. Labor force by occupation was mining and industry 34%, services 31%, agriculture and fisheries 22%, construction 8%, utilities 4%.Unemployment 24%.

In 2017, Nominal GDP was $31 billion and GDP growth was 3.7%. GDP Rank was 125th. Nominal per capita GDP was $1,300.

Exports were $3 billion in minerals, metal, armaments, textiles, agriculture, fish, coal, iron ore, limestone, graphite, copper, zinc and lead sold to China 87%, India 2.5%, Philippines 2%, Pakistan 1%.

Imports were $3.8 billion in oil, coking coal, machinery, equipment, textiles and grain from China 90%, India 2%, Thailand 1.5%,  Philippines 1%.

Government Revenues were $3 billion, Spending was $3 billion. External debt was $20 billion. North Korea is a Communist Country.
