McCain may lose to Ward

BREAKING: Massive News in AZ Senate Race Spells Doom for John McCain… FINALLY

Sen. John McCain may be a military hero, but his tenure in the Senate has been marked by far more compromise than courage. He’s managed to survive in the upper chamber by being a marquee name in a desert-red state, which leaves his constituency with little choice as to whom to vote for.

Things have gotten a little more difficult for McCain in recent years, though. In 2010, he survived a primary challenge from pundit J.D. Hayworth. In this election, he’s struggled to get above 40 percent in primary polls, but has been aided by a divided opposition.

That divided opposition just disappeared, however: Alex Meluskey, one of McCain’s challengers, has dropped out. According to Breitbart, this left Dr. Kelli Ward almost alone to run against McCain in the August 30 primary. Another candidate, Scott McBean, failed to turn in enough signatures to get onto the primary ballot.

The only other candidate left was Clair Van Steenwyk, a perennial candidate. Being the Harold Stassen or Lyndon LaRouche of the desert Southwest, Van Steenwyk has only polled in low single digits and was not expected to be a significant factor in the race.

This is a very big deal. A Public Policy Polling survey found McCain and Dr. Ward, a former state senator with conservative support, tied at 41 percent. With the other candidates included, Sen. McCain had 39 percent and Dr. Ward 26, with the remaining spread out among Meluskey, McBean and Van Steenwyk.

“Today Alex Meluskey has honored his pledge to Arizona Republicans ‘to clear the way for the defeat of John McCain,'” Ward said in a statement. “I thank him for his selfless and courageous decision, and I pledge to be a conservative champion on those issues that matter so much to his supporters whom we welcome to our camp: protecting innocent unborn life, defending the Second Amendment, securing our borders, and finally fixing the VA.” She then went on to attack John McCain on his record.
“After 33 years in Washington, John McCain has become the ultimate establishment insider and Hillary’s favorite Republican,” she said. “It’s 2016, and the VA is still broken, and the borders are still open. That’s why he’s losing a reliably red state to a rubber stamp Obama Democrat. I’m the only Republican who can unite our party to win in November.”

According to Politico, Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick was waging a war on the Democrat side to turn Arizona blue, something that clearly wouldn’t be the case if there were a real conservative at the helm of the ticket.

Dr. Ward is just that person, and we wish her the best.
