The
Atlanta Journal page 1 for Thursday 1/5/17 has several “slanted”
headlines. The first reads: “GOP goal:
Toughen Immigration Laws. It should
read: ‘GOP goal: Return to US Immigration Laws. Republicans want to remove
illegal Obama Executive Orders and end the Refugee program for starters. But what Republican voters really want is for
them to return to US Immigration Laws that benefit US citizens, not immigrants.
The
purpose for allowing immigration in the first place was to build a compatible
European population to take over the continent and later to solve our labor
shortages. There was nothing “humanitarian” about it. The sign on the Statue of Liberty that states
“Give us your poor..” was wishful thinking on the part of the French who gave
us the Statue of Liberty in 1886.
Immigrants
were admitted and screened at their own expense and with sponsors, usually
relatives, who guaranteed that they would support them until they became
self-sufficient. Those who arrived with enough wealth started businesses. Those
who were poor, got jobs, saved, bought their own homes and started their own
lives. They received no government assistance. This policy was designed to
attract the best immigrants. They came
because we operated a free market oriented private sector and they would have
property rights.
US
Immigration Laws have been damaged by bad law since the 1970s. This bad law needs to be repealed to end H2b
visas and watered-down H1b visas. The other plethora of visas needs to be
reviewed for consolidation. There are
only two types of visas we should keep. One is the H2a visa for seasonal farm
workers and this one needs to work. The
other one is an H1b visa with a high bar for entry, like a BSEE or MSEE degree
and the ability to do design engineering. There should be no laws that meddle
with salaries. We need to pay according
to the capability of the applicant, nothing else. We need to return to becoming a
“meritocracy”.
The other
headline reads: “Bitter fight begins over health law” as if keeping Obamacare
is even an option.
Nuances
in headlines will be the norm as long as the media is in the pocket of the
Liberals and the Liberals are in the pocket of the Communists, Socialists and
Globalists. Elections have consequences and until we repeal socialism, we will
continue to allow our economy to decline.
