Levels of Government Corruption

The most corrupt form of government is the brutal, lawless dictatorship. Most inhabitants of these countries live in fear. It is a police state where all who do not worship the dictator or may disagree with the dictator are eventually jailed and enslaved or killed. The results for the inhabitants include unsanitary living conditions and starvation. The economy is rigged and it is impossible for inhabitants to support themselves. Government corruption is found at all levels of government. The best examples of this were Stalin’s Soviet Union and Hitler’s Nazi Germany.

The second most corrupt form of government is the simple dictatorship. Most inhabitants live in poverty and are helpless to change their government. The judicial and legislative systems are rigged to keep the dictator in power and the function of the military is to serve as a deterrent to all attempts at armed revolution. The oligarchy that controls these countries has ways of assuring they are not replaced. They are not above brutal behavior, but it is usually used to crush dissent.  Examples include Russia, China and most third-world countries.

The third most corrupt form of government is the socialist republic. They pretend to hold elections, but the oligarchy controls the judicial and legislative bodies and decide who gets to run.  They pretend to have elections, but they are really rigged to ensure that a crony politician is re-elected. These government control the land and the means of production through direct government ownership of industries or crippling regulations. The government controls the means of production through government ownership of industries.  Examples of this are Cuba and Venezuela,

The fourth most corrupt governments are those that pretend that their citizens are free. They may have elections that are controlled by the majority of voters, but special interests control the executive, judicial and legislative systems. The oligarchy controlling this form of government is a cabal of government and corporate interests. Examples of this are the United States and most other developed countries.

The least corrupt form of government was the original US government formed 240 years ago, when government officials followed the US Constitution (as written). The economy was free market, so the consumers could control the price of goods. Basic needs were affordable and families and neighbors helped each other. Government was small with limited responsibilities.  Citizens could work, save and purchase their own land to produce food for themselves and sell the excess to others. All human needs could be fulfilled by citizens who were free to concentrate on improving their own well-being. Resources were available and self-support was possible because the free market kept prices low. This model no longer exists.
