New Urban Planning Fans are Creepy

Being in a room full of New Urban Planning disciples, salivating about possible Public Transit rail projects is creepy.  The get this gleeful, glassy-eyed look of a crazy, cult-trained terrorist.  They are in denial about the $billions and $trillions these projects would cost.  They are oblivious to the fact that voters refuse to pay for this mal-investment. They are hopeful that they could get enough $millions to at least continue the “studies” for these projects.  They are united and “fanatical” about their mission to implement UN Agenda 21 mal-investments aimed at recreating the US into Europe’s image.   Their justification for outlandish spending for public transit is the global warming hoax.  They are totally green and clueless that wind and solar cannot replace coal and nuclear power.  They are hopeful that they could get some solar and wind projects going.
If they are a cult, their temple is probably their local “Regional Commission”.  I think of it as the “Church of Regional Consciousness”. They do have monthly “communion” breakfasts for temple members and crony beneficiaries.  Their conversations are full of mentioning possible sites for rail projects peppered with new urban talking point words like green space, streetscapes, walkability, transit, bike lanes and millennials.
There appears to be enough federal bribes to keep these folks in business.  These bribes are “grants to states” dolled out by regional commissions with green strings attached and are part of Obama’s goal to spend government into oblivion.
The big lie they tell is that unless we have public transit, big companies won’t relocate to your city.  They require high density zoning that always turns into high traffic congestion and makes their project sites less attractive.  They also insist that companies must hire millennials, who insist on a high density urban environment.  This is also baloney unless you are a millennial who is also a “green freek” or a total “left winger”.
Those of us who have public rail in our county want it to be self-supporting, with no tax subsidies. If we also have traffic congestion, we want road expansion or lower density to solve the problem.
