“I used to rule the world. Seas would rise when I gave the word. Now in the morning I sleep alone, sweep the streets I used to own.” –Viva la Vida by Coldplay
The Republican primary
is a race against the GOP elite who have enjoyed Viva la Vida for far
too long. This is not the time to ask the candidates to swear allegiance to
Karl Rove and Reince Priebus.
Conservatives tend to
have short memories. They forgive too easily, and sometimes that gets in the
way of their better sense.
The GOP demands a
promise from Trump that he will not run as an independent, when instead they
should make the party a place where he and millions of other conservatives want
to hang their hat.
Conservatives forget who
the real enemy of a 2016 Republican victory is: the GOP elite. Their goal: to
preserve their Viva la Vida. They are betting you will help with that. But if
you have a lick of sense in you, you won’t. Here’s why:
1) They carry water for
the Democrats.
2) They talk the PC
narrative.
3) They let Democrat
threats scare and even stop them.
4) They compromise
before they even negotiate.
5) They negotiate away
their chips, and they do not use their leverage.
6) They give up before
they start.
7) They avoid some
issues entirely, already ceding defeat.
If you take a close look
at the list above, Trump doesn’t do one of those things. There are others in
the GOP race for POTUS who might make a better president than Trump, but
conservatives who cuss Trump at this moment have lost their vision. It’s like
they forgot the past 20 years of compromise, failure, spinelessness, elitist
politics, broken promises, political correctness and lost elections.
He's childish. He's
boorish. He calls people names. But conservatives need Trump in this race a lot
more than he needs us to approve of his candidacy. Here is why:
1) Before Trump was in
the race, illegal immigration was off the table for the GOP candidates. Now it
is on the front burner.
2) Before Trump was in
the race, Karl Rove was still writing the playbook. Trump has effectively taken
Rove's pencil and slapped him with his playbook. Did we not want this to
happen?
3) Before Trump, the
mainstream media were still winning, even in their current state of recession.
4) Before Trump, we sat
on pins and needles worried who the left would next accuse of being racist, and
knowing the femme-bot GOP elite would wilt under the heat.
5) Before Trump, we were
begging our candidates to lie to us because we knew the truth wasn't sayable.
Trump has stated his truth and stood even when they demanded his head. This has
emboldened the other conservative candidates, and emasculated the
bully-statists on the other side.
6) Before Trump,
capitalism was a losing tune, and Bernie Sanders and his commie drums were
dancing on our heads. Trump made capitalism cool again! Not just capitalism,
but raw, thorny, John Wayne/Clint Eastwood don't-even-think-about-it capitalism
is cool again. And oh, crony capitalism? He somehow strangled that and left it
in his dust, to boot!
7) Before Trump,
conservatives had about as much chance of defeating a Bush tumbleweed primary
victory as Rosie O'Donnell has of winning Miss America. Bush would be the
nominee, Rove would make another 10 mil when Jeb lost the race, and America
would fall. Conservative candidates like Cruz and Fiorina are now free to be
radically honest, thanks to The Donald, and that becomes them. The party is
hushed and afraid that The Donald might run third party and they might be
further exposed in their weakness.
Whether or not The Donald
is elected, conservatives can not only fight to win (finally!), but when they
are elected, they don't have to operate business as usual. They can tell the
so-called leaders and consultants to sit down and shut up, for example. They
can tell Rove he only gets paid for races he actually wins, for example.
As my friend and former
congressional candidate, Katrina Pierson, wrote, "Be careful what you wish
for. … Donald J. Trump is the only thing standing between your conservative
favorites and the SuperPACs created to destroy them one by one."
Two very distinct Bible
quotes run through my mind when I consider Trump, whether or not he is a real
conservative, a Republican or a Christian.
Romans 8:28: "And
we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who
have been called according to his purpose."
Esther 4:14 "...
and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as
this?"
Those who claim to be
Christian conservatives should not be so sure that God isn't using this bizarre
phenomenon of Trump for His glory and purpose. Somebody had to shake things up,
and conservatives had no one. Cruz, Santorum, Huckabee and anyone else who
dared defend life or sovereignty were being methodically pushed out by the
establishment. Is it not possible that, by God's purposes,
Trump is in this race to
be the shield so a real conservative can withstand the firestorm that is the
establishment wrath, to go on and give "anyone but Jeb" a chance?
I believe, should a bona
fide conservative win the primary, Trump will stand down and be supportive. I
believe that if Jeb, Chris Christie or Lindsey Graham are nominated, Trump will
run third party, and the conservatives in the GOP might just follow him.
Thus, RINOs are
confounded. They need to find a way to get Trump out of the race, because any
other outcome means they lose their life of luxe. They see three potentially
devastating (for them) outcomes:
1) If he stays in and
wins, they know he will say, "You're fired!" to all the crony
capitalists, RINOs, elitist consultants and spineless D.C. hacks.
2) If Jeb gets the
nomination, Trump will move to third party, take most of his huge support base
with him, and that still doesn't get their boy, Jeb, elected.
3) If Cruz or another
true conservative wins, and Trump supports the nominee, they are probably still
toast.
So, it's best to just
make sure Trump somehow goes away. To do this, they must get
conservatives to demand that Trump pledge himself to the GOP. They have to.
Their entire corrupt Viva la Vida livelihood depends on it. They will stop at
nothing.
Certainly, the easiest
avenue is to manipulate conservatives into demanding Trump commit to "be a
team player" and stay in the party, even if he loses. That way, they can
thank the always oh-so-nice conservatives for their help, and get back to the
business of electing a Bush/Christie ticket and their fun in Viva la Vida.
Conservatives: If nominating
a compromiser elitist and losing to the Democrats is your goal, don't let
common sense or historic truths get in your way. There is nothing to see here.
Carry on.

Trump will stand down and be supportive? Heaven speed the day...but I'll believe it when I see it.
