The
combination of laws, regulations and government structures too often results in
“unintended consequences” either on purpose or because legislators failed to
see how laws can lead to conditions far worse than the laws admitted to,
because the legislators lack judgement, wisdom, intelligence and morality.
The most
visible current example of this is how Congress maintained open borders to
allow illegal immigrants to enter the US, unleashed excessive legal immigration
in 1986, doubled legal immigration in 1989 and off-shored all manufacturing
jobs in 1993 to kill the middle class. The US ended up with 100 million
working-age US citizens without jobs and 60 million unnecessary immigrants. Our
reaction was to elect Trump.
Immigration
had always had an effect on job availability when the numbers of immigrants far
exceeded the number of jobs available.
Economist
Milton Friedman said” ‘You can have open borders or you can have a welfare
system, but you can’t have both’. And
nobody listened. Now immigrants cost taxpayers $386 billion a year.
