Auto Sales by Country


The US buys Japanese cars. US auto sales were 17.25 million in 2017. 67% were trucks and SUVs.

The top selling cars in the US in 2017 were Honda Civic, Toyota Camry, Toyota Corolla, Honda Acord, Nissan Altima, Nissan Sentra, Ford Fusion, Chevrolet Cruze, Hyundai and Chevrolet Malabu.

The top selling trucks in the US in 2017 were Ford F-series, Chevrolet Silverado, Ram Pick Up, Toyota RAV-4, and Nissan Rogue.

Germans buy their own cars. The top selling cars in Germany are the VW, Opel, Audi, Porsche, BMW and Mercedes. They also buy the Scoda made in the Czech Republic and the Ford Focus made in Germany. They also buy all the other cars made by all the other countries if these companies have their plants in Germany. Germans bought 3.4 million cars in 2017.

Jaguar Land Rover sold 621,109 cars in 2017. Including 39,594 in the US.

China’s top selling cars are Wuling Hongguang with 650,018 sold in 2016, Great Wall Haval H6 580,683, VW Lavida  478,699, Buick Excelle GT 370,370, Baojun 730, minivan 370,000,  Nissan 367,979, VW Jetta 348,437, VW Sagitar 341,331, GAC Trumpchi GS4 326,906, Baojun 560  321,555. 

India bought 3.2 million cars in 2017. Top brands included Suzuki, Hyundai, Mahindra, Tata, Honda, Toyota, Renault, Ford, Nissan and Volkswagen.
