US Tariffs on China

AJC 6/16/18 article page A-1 reports “More tariffs escalate US China trade war, Beijing retaliates after tariff of $50 billion on imports is imposed”. It reports that this tariff focuses on high technology, non-consumer imports like information technology, robotics. Industrial machinery, aerospace and automobiles. The tariff is 25% on $50 billion worth of Chinese imports.

AJC 6/17/18 article page A3 reports “How US business feels trade fight with China” Autos – ‘US imported 58,437 cars made in China. The proposed 25% tariff would add $8,000 to the cost of a $31,000 Buick.’ – If the other 58,437 imported cars cost $31,000 the total for cars from China would be $1.8 billion.  Trump wants cars sold in the US to be manufactured in the US. The article reports speculation in other industries, but no other useful facts. This is a moving target.
