Internet Dominance 10-4-24

Microsoft

Windows is the dominant software

Alphabet

Google is the largest search engine in the United States, with 86.94% of the search market share in March 2024. Bing is the second largest search engine in the US, with 8.04% of the market share. Google processes about 40,000 search queries every second, which is about 1.2 trillion searches per year.  In 2023, most of Google's $305.63 billion US dollar record revenues originated from advertising, especially through online searches.

Alphabet's structure is intended to allow its companies to develop their own brands and have independence. The company is organized into two parts: Google and Other Bets, which includes other business ventures like YouTube, Waze, and Fitbit. Alphabet also acquires companies that offer unique technologies or capabilities that complement its existing business lines.

Meta

Meta owns several companies and products, including: Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Facebook Messenger

Meta owns 94 companies with total assets of $165.987 billion till 2023, here we listed the top companies owned by Meta. Meta is a multinational American company with headquarters located in Menlo Park, California with a total of 66,185 employees in the year 2023 an increase of 20.9% from 2022.

The U.S. population currently sits at 345.6 million, with an estimated 193.5 million people in America that have an account on Facebook. And Facebook penetration in the U.S. is on the rise! In fact, in 2022, around 71.43% of internet users in the United States were regular Facebook users.

Tic Tok

TikTok is owned by ByteDance, a private global company founded by Chinese entrepreneurs. According to TikTok, about 60% of the parent company is owned by global institutional investors, 20% by the company's founders and 20% by employees. The app's CEO is Shou Zi Chew, a Singaporean businessman.

China. China itself does not permit the international version of TikTok to be used on the mainland. Instead, users must download Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok which is subject to censorship from the Chinese Communist Party.

US Lawmakers from both major US political parties supported a law that bans TikTok unless ByteDance agrees to sell to a non-Chinese company. They fear the Chinese government could force ByteDance to hand over data about TikTok's 170 million US users.

As of July 2024, there are approximately 120.5 million TikTok users in the United States. This makes the US the second country with the most TikTok users, after Indonesia.

Comments

The Internet Dominant Companies have created platforms that entertain, distract and isolate students. Public School curriculum fails to teach useful subjects. Students can’t read, write, spell or do math. The Public School curriculum is irrelevant and is not what students need to prepare for occupations that will enable them to provide the ability to earn enough to pay for their food, shelter and transportation.
