BMI is just one tool to understand body size, and it does not account for all of the ways that people’s bodies may differ. A person can talk with their doctor if they have questions about calculating or interpreting their BMI score.

Suppressing your appetite can be helped by consuming certain foods and minerals.

Fiber: Research suggests that fiber can help suppress appetite. Some foods that are high in fiber include whole grains, beans, apples, avocados, almonds, chia seeds, and vegetables.

Dark chocolate: The bitter taste of dark chocolate can help decrease your appetite. Dark chocolate also contains stearic acid, which can slow down digestion and make you feel full for longer.

Green tea: Green tea contains caffeine and catechins, which may help suppress appetite. However, green tea has only been shown to have this effect when consumed with other ingredients.

Coffee: The caffeine in coffee can help reduce appetite, delay stomach emptying, and influence appetite hormones. Caffeine may also increase fat burn and aid weight loss.

Fenugreek: This common household spice can help control appetite and reduce food intake. Studies have shown that adding 8 grams of fenugreek fiber daily can increase feelings of fullness and reduce hunger.

Ginger: Ginger contains gingerol, which can help curb cravings and initiate weight loss. Ginger is also a great metabolism booster.

Yerba mate: Yerba mate contains natural substances called xanthines, which are stimulants that can increase metabolism and reduce fatigue.

Caralluma fimbriata: This herb has been used for many years to reduce appetite. It works by increasing the levels of serotonin in the brain, which suppresses appetite.

Glucomannan: This water-soluble dietary fiber found in the elephant yam can help suppress appetite. It absorbs water and expands as it travels through your gastrointestinal tract, creating feelings of fullness.

I used Magnesium to lose weight. It eliminated my appetite. I took Magnesium supplements that varied from 250mg to 500mg and didn’t have any ill effects. Over 10 years I went from 200lb to 160lb. I stopped using Magnesium when it started to cause fatigue. I am maintaining my 160lb weight and my appetite remained low. Not everybody has a high tolerance for Magnesium.  I took charge of my preventive medicine to prevent Diabetes 2.  My breakfast at 10am is Oatmeal, ½ banana for potassium, 1 fried egg, 1 sausage biscuit, orange juice, a multi-vitamin, Vitamin E, Vitamin D3, Iron.  My lunch is 3pm and is usually a small portion of baked fish or chicken, beef or ham, and vegetables like cooked carrots, broccoli, spinach or string beans and mashed potatoes. My dinner is small or skipped. It can include fruit like grapes, pears, apples or cheese, sausage and crackers.
