Why Cuba ?

Obama Does His Old Preacher Proud Posted 12/18/2014 06:22 PM ET IBD

Agenda: Lost in the swirl over the president's move to undo 55 years of U.S. policy in Cuba is his suggestion that America colonized Cuba and gave rise to its communist "liberators." Where does he get such pap? From his church.

'Others have seen us as a former colonizer intent on controlling your future," President Obama said, addressing the Cuban people in a speech Castro could have written. "Let us leave behind the legacy of both colonization and communism."

Former U.N. Ambassador John Bolton called the remarks "the most radical thing I think he said in six years." And rightly so.

This latest stop on Obama's world apology tour is firmly rooted in Black Liberation Theology, which his "mentor" Rev. Jeremiah Wright preached at their church on Chicago's South Side. Wright was heavily involved in a group controlled by the Castro regime. He even visited communist strongman Fidel Castro in Havana.

"I have been affiliated with the Cuba Council of Churches since the 1980s," Wright boasted in a sermon on July 16, 2006. Obama started going to Wright's church in 1988 after hearing an America-bashing sermon that, as recounted in
his memoir, moved him to tears. He was still attending in 2006.

"I have several close Cuban friends who work with the Cuba Council of Churches, and you have heard me preach about our affiliation and the Black Theology Project's trips to Cuba," Wright added. "I have worked with them for two decades."

Cuban intelligence defectors say the council is an arm of Cuba's secret police, according to author Humberto Fontova's "Exposing the Real Che Guevara."

In 1984, Wright's Cuban "friends" arranged a trip to Havana for him and Chicago pal Jesse Jackson. "Viva Fidel!" Jackson shouted while concluding his speech at the University of Havana.
It's reportedly not the only time Castro hosted Obama's preacher. Did Wright's star acolyte ever tag along? No one in the White House press has dared ask if he, too, was a useful idiot.

Given his church background, Obama's appeasement was predictable. He heard pulpit calls for ending sanctions and normalizing relations with the Castro regime for two decades. All the while, his church blamed America for oppressive colonialism.

Of course, the U.S. never colonized Cuba. Rather, it came to the rescue of Cubans who spent decades fighting off colonization by Spain. In 1898, we defeated Spain and gave Cuba its independence. Obama's church also deified the Sandinistas and other communists in our hemisphere.

"We invaded Grenada for no other reason than to get Maurice Bishop. We invaded Panama because Noriega would not dance to our tune anymore," Wright bellowed in another sermon. "We bombed . . . Nicaragua, killing women and children while trying to get public opinion turned against Castro."

Obama's real agenda was manifest in that church ‹ as we first warned in 2007 and now it's playing out in its full horror.

Wright also preached that America is run by "white racist DNA," a smear Obama clearly took to heart. Witness his war on white cops.

His pastor, moreover, sermonized that Israel "oppresses" the Palestinian people, while reprinting Hamas' charter in the church bulletin. The bias is reflected in Obama's Mideast policies.

For two decades, Obama went to that radical South Side church and even had his daughters baptized into its hateful anti-American Marxist theology.

Yet we were all supposed to close our eyes to that outrageous affiliation, to believe that he never really bought into the bile his mentor was spewing from the pulpit. Obama just humored his reverend, we were assured, while harboring more reasoned views of the world.

Now we're seeing the error of ignoring those early red flags.
