ObamaTrade Update:

House may postpone TAA vote until July 30.

Grassfire just received word that House Speaker John Boehner wants to give the President "more time" to tell fellow Democrats in the House "the consequences of not moving forward" on ObamaTrade.

The Hill reports, "House GOP leaders are punting on voting again on President Obama's trade agenda, possibly until the end of July."

On Friday, most House Democrats, including Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, voted against the Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA). While it was a major defeat for the President, Speaker Boehner made it possible for a re-vote on the measure today.

But The Hill says, "Obama and GOP leadership aren't yet in a position where TAA is any more likely to pass. So the House Rules Committee on Monday night attached a provision to a 'rule' governing parameters for debate on the intelligence authorization bill that extends the possibility for the chamber to vote on TAA again to July 30."

This afternoon, the House is expected to consider extending the possible trade re-vote until the end of next month! Tell GOP leadership and other key lawmakers in the House to stop fast-tracking ObamaTrade.

Earlier today, we told you how lobbyists for foreign governments were trying to buy votes. (See our previous email below.) Now, House GOP "leaders" are trying to buy time to move the President's secret trade deal forward. Don't let them! Make your voice heard now.

Tuesday Morning

We are still bracing for a possible "blitzkrieg" announcement this morning that would push the key TAA piece of ObamaTrade to the House floor for a re-vote later today.

Meanwhile, we are learning of more evidence of outrageous influence peddling surrounding ObamaTrade...

The New York Observer is reporting that foreign governments are paying millions of dollars to U.S. lobbyists to push ObamaTrade through Congress! And those lobbyists include two former Senate Majority leaders -- Tom Daschle and Trent Lott. This latest revelation is one more reason why this secret deal cannot and should not be fast-tracked through Congress. Again, we are preparing for a vote TODAY that would fast-track the Fast Track bill, in case it happens.
