The Rule of Law

The rule of law has always been destroyed by the government that was established to protect the rule of law.
The Roman Empire lost its way when it ignored the Laws that were written to govern the Roman Republic. Corrupt politicians saw how they could profit from bending the law and declaring itself an Empire, so they could rule as an oligarchy and ignore Roman law that allowed Rome to succeed. The Roman Senate ceded its powers to safeguard Roman law. When the Emperor took that power government spending went through the roof and freedom went with it. It took over 300 years, but Rome eventually went bankrupt.
The US lost its way when our politicians ignored the US Constitution, so the American Communist Party could succeed. For the US it took over 200 years and began its decline in 1872. Our decline continued to decline as the government grew. Today the US government has a negative net worth with a debt of $18 trillion and unfunded liabilities of $200 trillion.
