Adventures in Tolerance

The US Senate confirmation hearings this week are allowing hecklers to disrupt the Q&A sessions for Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. The hearings are being televised, so this could have been a closed session for Senators only to avoid interruptions by outside hecklers. But instead the meetings are organized to encourage disruption. When hecklers start shouting, they are escorted out of the room by Police and arrested.

The other disruptive behavior being allowed is to give Democrat Senators the opportunity to heckle without consequence and insert misinformation and accusations in their questions. Their behavior is allowed.  This Senate hearing should be attended by those Senators who have not already decided to vote no. There is no reason for the Senators who oppose or support this nomination to attend. The entire reason for this hearing is to give those Senators who have not made up their minds or want to grill the nominee on a pet issue. Democrats are there to attack Trump and accuse the nominee and Republicans are there to counter Democrat attacks.  Democrats seem happy to disrupt to convince their base that they are “fighters”. They get points from the Liberal base for every cheap shot they take.

The strategy being used is to allow the protestors to disrupt the meetings to show the Democrat opposition as a mindless, violent mob to allow them to discredit themselves. Fox News has given radical Liberals a lot of “face time”, so they could inject their mindless rants. Democrats use this tactic to energize their base and seem to be pleased to get the “face time”. This works for Democrats, because their core Liberal base is a brainwashed cult. We saw this mindless brainwashed cult behavior in the Manson family members at the Manson trial. It took decades in prison for these cult victims to become lucid.

So, will voters be turned off by violent protesters and hecklers weak emotional arguments enough to motivate them to vote for Republicans or not.  That is the gamble. We know that Trump has convinced life-long traditional cradle Democrats to vote Republican, but it isn’t clear that allowing Liberals to show themselves as the uninformed, mindless emotional idiots moves the needle.

Democrats look too happy to get media attention for me to believe that the “let them show their colors” strategy is a good idea. It’s too easy for Liberals to brand anyone who opposes wasteful spending as a bigot. US voters are too vulnerable to being fooled and can be herded by repetition and distraction.
