Each of the over 200
countries on the planet need to ensure that they have a functioning economy
that works for them and offers a path forward.
Ideally, countries
need to provide the opportunity for their populations to provide their own
food, water, clothing, shelter, medical treatment and sanitation. They should
be able to import whatever is missing. Citizens should be able to purchase land
and own it, so that families can prosper. Citizens should also be able to
engage in mining, drilling, forestry and the sale of natural resources and
engage in manufacturing.
Third-World countries
with large unemployed populations need to concentrate on the basics and the
citizens of these countries must function with fewer resources and more manual
labor. Families need to be the basic economic unit, so that they can prosper
over the generations. As these families are able to afford tractors, trucks and
mechanized equipment, they will be able to reduce manual labor and increase
production, living standards and overall prosperity.
Governments in many
countries are conflicted between the demands of corporations that pay most of
their taxes and the citizens who lack basic needs like clean water, sanitation,
food and shelter. Corrupt governments ignore the citizens and cater to the
corporations.
All economies are
“national”. It’s the national government who sets the regulations that can
allow the citizens to become self-supporting. These laws and regulations need
to be reformed to allow the growth of their private sector economy. The “rule
of law” and private property rights are central to good policy.
