The US continues to consume about 20
million barrels of oil per day, but is increasing US production. US oil
production was 9.4 million b/d in 2017, 10.9 million b/d in 2018 and is
expected to hit 12.1 million b/d in 2019.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA)
includes biofuels in consumption of petroleum products. In 2017,
the United States consumed a total of 7.28 billion barrels of petroleum
products, an average of about 19.96 million barrels per day.
EIA expects that U.S. crude oil production will
average 10.9 million b/d in 2018, up from 9.4 million b/d in 2017,
and will average 12.1 million b/d in 2019.
