US Jobs by State 9-14-25

There is no single figure for the exact number of open US jobs by state today, September 11, 2025, because the data is released monthly by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and requires processing before it's available for state-specific breakdowns. The most recent national data from the BLS September 3, 2025 JOLTS report indicates 7.2 million job openings in July 2025, a slight decrease from the previous month. To find the number of openings for a specific state, you would need to refer to the BLS State Job Openings and Labor Turnover data for the latest available month.

How to find the most recent state-level data:

Go to the BLS Website: Visit the official U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics website.

Navigate to State Data: Look for the data on "State Job Openings and Labor Turnover," which includes charts and tables with state-specific figures.

Check the Latest Release: The BLS releases this information monthly, so the "today" figure would be from the latest published data available for each state, typically a month or two behind the current date.

What the latest national data tells us:

The most recent JOLTS summary, released on September 3, 2025, reports 7.2 million job openings in July 2025.

This national figure was slightly lower than the previous month.

This release covers the total nonfarm sector and can be broken down by industry, but state-specific data is found in regional releases or dedicated state tables.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the latest state-by-state job openings data is for June 2025. The JOLTS (Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey) program does not track job openings daily, but releases monthly data with a lag.
