RNC v DNC Fundraising 9-26-25

As of mid-2025, Republican national committees and super PACs have collectively outraised their Democratic counterparts. This trend has given Republicans a significant financial advantage in preparing for the 2026 midterm elections.

Overall Fundraising

Republican national committees (RNC, NRSC, NRCC) raised approximately $239 million by July 31, 2025, while their Democratic counterparts (DNC, DSCC, DCCC) raised about $197 million during the same period. The RNC also had a significantly larger cash reserve than the DNC at the end of June 2025.

Super PACs

Pro-Republican super PACs, such as MAGA Inc., have also reported substantial fundraising totals, with MAGA Inc. raising nearly $200 million in the first half of 2025. Democratic super PACs have generally raised less in large donations compared to Republicans.

Congressional Races

In congressional races, Republican incumbents in competitive House districts are showing stronger individual campaign fundraising than their Democratic challengers in the first half of 2025. The Republican Congressional Leadership Fund also has a cash advantage over its Democratic equivalent.

Based on campaign finance filings from the first half of 2025, the Republican Party raised more money than the Democratic Party. In addition to greater receipts, Republicans also hold a significant advantage in cash on hand, largely due to strong fundraising from large donors and pro-Trump super PACs.

National party committees

For the first six months of 2025 (January 1–June 30), the Republican National Committee (RNC) and Democratic National Committee (DNC) reported the following national fundraising totals:

  • RNC: Over $96 million in receipts.
  • DNC: Over $69 million in receipts.

This pattern continued through July, when the RNC's cash on hand was nearly six times that of the DNC.

Super PACs

Republican-aligned super PACs have also raised more money than their Democratic counterparts, particularly the groups supporting former President Trump.

  • Pro-Republican: In the first half of 2025, the main pro-Trump super PAC, MAGA Inc., collected roughly $177 million.
  • Pro-Democrat: The main Democratic presidential super PAC is still focused on paying off debts from the 2024 election.

Congressional races

The Republican advantage extends to congressional fundraising, especially in competitive House districts.

  • House incumbents: A mid-July 2025 Politico analysis found that the median Republican incumbent in targeted battleground districts raised more money than their Democratic counterparts.
  • Congressional super PACs: Through the first six months of 2025, the major super PACs aligned with Republican House and Senate leadership raised $59.2 million combined, while their Democratic counterparts raised $38.6 million.
