During August 29–31, 2025, a satellite event for the International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence (IJCAI 2025) was held in Guangzhou, China. The main conference took place in Montreal, Canada.
Countries
represented at the Guangzhou event included researchers from various nations
who may have faced difficulty securing Canadian visas. Other participants in
IJCAI 2025's main conference and satellite event included AI researchers and
companies from across the globe.
The AI event in Guangzhou was a purely academic conference for the global AI research community and was not related to any government-level discussions on AI.
