The Regional Plan includes elements of transportation, land use, water quality,
workforce development, aging and health resources, arts and culture and more.
Transportation is the
responsibility of cities for streets and sidewalks, counties for roads,
automobile manufacturers for cars and shoe manufacturers for shoes. Buses
should be privately operated. MARTA is a
unionized public transit monopoly acting independently, but funded by DeKalb,
Fulton and the City of Atlanta taxpayers. Interstate highways are maintained by
the GDOT. Road maintenance is funded by $2 billion a year revenue from Georgia
gasoline tax.
On-street bike lanes, multi-use trails,
trollies are not transportation elements.
Land Use is the responsibility of
the land owner operating within the confines of minimal zoning ordinances that
prevent an owner from opening up a pig farm next to your house.
Water Quality is the
responsibility of counties or cities, who operate water treatment plants along
with sanitary sewer systems. Water quantity is a State problem.
Workforce Development is the
responsibility of employers and teachers of occupational trades. They talk
quite frequently without your help.
Aging is an individual
responsibility and we are not currently having difficulty aging. It actually
happens much faster than you would expect, so no help is actually required.
Health Resources are the
responsibility of Hospitals, Clinics and individual Medical Doctors. They shouldn’t be bothered by regulations,
bureaucrats or lawyers. It just runs up their costs and slows them down.
Arts are the responsibility of
artists who paint or sculpt or sing and dance and act in movies and plays. They
are usually paid by patrons who buy their paintings and sculpture or buy
tickets to their performances.
Culture is a set of values shared
by religious groups, ethnic groups and businesses,
More suggests you are planning to
get into many other areas to usurp more responsibilities from other people.
The primary reason for the existence of Regional Commissions is to implement UN Agenda 21 in Georgia. They are all working to usurp the responsibilities we gave to our elected city and county officials. We need to repeal HB 1216 and HB 277, the Georgia laws that authorized this treason. This is an illegitimate group in search of a mission.
