Being a Tea Party Leader

Tea Party Leaders believe in the dominance of true free market Austrian economics, full employment, very limited government, maximum personal freedom and a return to strict adherence to the U.S. Constitution (as written) Our goal is to reverse America’s economic decline.
We are free enterprise populists, who believe all U.S. citizens would be better off to return from a planned economy to a true market economy.
We believe that U.S. voters need to get their government back to protecting their rights and restoring their ability to be sovereign and self-supporting.
What are our Goals
We would seek to limit the federal government to the enumerated powers delegated by the States in the U.S. Constitution and Amendments (as written).  We would return 80% of current federal activities to the States and the People. We would do this by transferring these function starting with those doing the most harm, like EPA, HUD, Education, Energy, etc.  We would seek an orderly transfer of these functions to prevent disruptions.  We would begin immediately.
We would quit the UN and close the Federal Reserve.  We believe in restoring free market discipline to the stock market.
We would restrict federal courts to deal with the enumerated powers in the Constitution.  Most courts would be State courts who would have the last say on everything else. We would have all judges elected by the voters and accountable to the voters. We would deed all federal land to the States.
We believe global trade can function better without government. We believe that anything government touches becomes unsustainably expensive.  We believe that if we could ban corruption in government, we could amass enough economic strength to ignore all other countries. They would be better off spending their time helping their own citizens become self-supporting, even if it means allowing them to own their own land. We advocate a business to business economy with minimal government interference.
We would support real tax reform. Including the removal all tax subsidies, special tax deals for special interests and monopoly protection for favored monopolies. We would remove all special interest IRS rules and regulations.  We would greatly simplify Individual Income Tax Forms and Instructions.  We would then support lowering our corporate tax rate to allow manufacturing to return to the U.S. and offset the changes above.  We see no merit in Flat Tax or Fair Tax; both would further decimate low wage workers. You can’t have much of an economy without a lot of consumers and our current path is killing off consumers.
We see no need to remove any of the “safety net” programs at all.  We would increase fraud abatement for all programs.  We would work on decreasing immigration, increasing production and removing unnecessary regulations taxes and laws to increase employment.
We would support real federal spending cuts, including the removal of all military and humanitarian foreign aid to foreign governments and the removal of all federal grants.
We intervene and object to government violating the property rights of citizens, being overcharged by cronies for overpriced or unnecessary projects and corporate welfare in all its forms,
We believe that our federal government has succeeded in transforming into a national socialist government with the help of our global U.S. corporations. We believe that this step is in preparation to further transform the U.S. into part of a global Marxist totalitarian communist government with a planned economy, no rights, a ruling elite and just enough slaves to serve our masters.
We’ve studied UN Agenda 21 and tracked its implementation and the damage it has done. We’ve studied the American Communist Party Goals (1963) and conclude that they have all been accomplished.  We’ve studied all the federal laws and treaties that brought us to this point and can report that we are allowing the total destruction of our sovereignty. We believe that this is a disaster and both parties are responsible for this treason.
We would insist that government abandon Omnibus Bills that allow bad legislation to pass.  We would insist that legislatures not delegate writing and approving regulations to any department or agency, but instead would have these regulations written before the bills are passed.
We would limit the authority of political party leaders in all legislatures.  We want legislative committees to send all bills to the floor for a vote. Their authority should be limited to issuing reports to the legislature with recommendations and reasons.  We want all bills to stand alone for a vote.
We would so severely limit the scope of the federal government and state government to allow for proper legislation to be considered and voted on.
We view State and local government as a service industry monopoly, like a utility.  They are hired to provide roads, highways, and bridges to allow citizens and the free market to function. Local governments are also hired to ensure water supplies including reservoirs, sewage treatment plants, clean water distribution, legislatures, courts and law enforcement.
We believe public education is overpriced and doesn’t do the job. We recommend homeschooling. If given a choice between church and state, we would choose church. We currently believe a Mosque is not a church as we define church.  We believe it is where Muslims plot our conversion or destruction. We object to the tyranny of the minority prevailing in our courts and legislatures.  We believe tolerance must be earned.
We would return to low immigration with those are self-supporting and who will assimilate to become Americans. We question whether or not Muslims can and will assimilate. We can defer that discussion until a time when we no longer hear about Islamic terrorists causing trouble anywhere.  In the meantime, we would stop all Muslim immigration. We would close down immigration of refugees and those claiming asylum and illegal immigration. We would restrict legal immigration to 200,000 a year for agricultural guest workers and H1b visa engineers until our real employment, the workforce participation rate rose above 70%. We have an oversupply of minimum wage workers right now.
We object to co-mingling tax funds in projects that should belong to the free market.  We object to government involvement in economic development and tax money spent on special interests. We object to government’s involvement in or use of tax dollars for public transportation of any type, especially economically unsustainable commuter trains. If it won’t break even, don’t even think about it.  We object to the wasteful use of long term bond sales by governments.  Like a mortgage, they cost double.

Tea Partiers May Differ

Not all Tea Party Leaders agree with all of the reforms I outlined above.  I certainly do and many others agree with me, but not all on everything.  Tea Parties are sovereign; there are no rules passed down by a national organization.  Not all Tea Partiers agree on all issues with their Leaders; they do agree with most initiatives. The need to preserve and restore the Constitution has become the centerpiece of our beliefs.
Blame
We blame Democrat “Progressives” for crafting the laws and structures that shredded our Constitution and we blame Republicans for letting them do it.
We blame State Legislatures for not nullifying bad federal law, not passing State sovereignty laws and not invoking the 10th Amendment to remove unconstitutional powers from the federal government.
We blame voters for falling asleep at the switch.
Role of the Tea Party
Tea Party Leaders network together to discover and publish news that is not permitted to be published in our “free press”. We confirm and share this news with each other via emails and we publish vetted news on our blogs and websites. We form coalitions to defeat abusive, wasteful, unnecessary State and local government spending, laws and actions. We formed the Transportation Leadership Coalition in 2012 to defeat the T-SPLOST on July 31, 2012.
Sometimes we feel like Isaiah.  We spend lots of time in our desert (the internet), we absorb wisdom and we come back to the city gates and yell at the inhabitants.
We believe that reducing total immigration is necessary to reverse our unsustainable 37% working age nonparticipation rate (our real unemployment).

We oppose Obamacare, the Convention of States, Common Core and UN Agenda 21. We believe we need to grow our way out of our bad economy by increasing our exports of oil, natural gas, coal, minerals, food and timber.
As populists, we would leave all welfare systems in place and allow citizens to lift themselves into full employment. We would eliminate lots of laws regardless of who they purported to benefit

Rigged Game
We believe nothing will change until we restrict campaign contributions to allow only individual registered voters to make campaign contributions and we would further restrict them to making these contributions only to candidates who appear on their ballot.  This would ban all contributions from all special interests.  Special interests can use their own websites to exercise their right to free speech and have a political voice.  We would close K Street. We would allow legislators to do their jobs without having to spend all of their time raising campaign contributions from special interests. We would probably need legislatures with entirely different skill sets.
Essential Action
Right now, we need everyone to vote on November 4th, 2014 to restore the Senate to Republican control and stop Common Core in the States.
We will also need for you to participate in party conventions poised to begin in February 2015 to take back your party.
We will likely call for support to return the Whitehouse to Republican control in 2016.
If all of that results in a return to free markets, banning UN Agenda 21 and a constitutionally compliant federal government we will have succeeded.
If we don’t succeed, we will be calling on you to join us in forming a 3rd political party. That worked in Australia to allow them to repeal their useless carbon tax. It could work in the U.S.
In Closing
Being a Tea Partier is a worthy avocation for any conservative who is interested in our economy, our government, our freedom and the preservation of our Constitution (as written).  It requires study in these areas, but you would find thousands of other Tea Partiers ready to help you.  I registered my Tea Party on teaparty.net in June 2011.
Norb Leahy, Dunwoody GA Tea Party Leader
