Defining Morality

Morality deals with distinguishing Right from Wrong. We can determine the morality of our actions by clearly determining whether our actions produced outcomes that are Good or Bad.

Defining morality to include pandering to selected minority “victim” groups is not morality; it is encouraging the attitude of entitlement in these groups.  It requires everyone to support the scam promoted by these groups.

Jesus said “feed the poor” and Mother Theresa showed us that charity must be performed in person. The Good Samaritan gave his own money to the innkeeper to care for the victim he found on the road.  St. Paul clarified the boundaries of Christian ethics when he said: “those who will not work, should not eat”, to stop the entitlement mentality

2 Thessalonians 3:10 For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: "If a man will not work, he shall not eat." 2 Thessalonians 3:11 We hear that some among you are idle. They are not busy; they are busybodies.

Governments who regard charitable works as the job of government are setting government up to become the national religion. That is why our original Constitution did not allow government to engage in making charitable contributions.

Governments who criticize other governments can be guilty of hypocrisy when they have engaged in the same activity.

Matthew 7:5

You hypocrite! First remove the beam out of your own eye, and then you can see clearly to remove the speck out of your brother's eye.

Moralizing is not what our elected officials should engage in. They need to stop this and recognize that their only responsibilities are to ensure our freedom to be self-sufficient.

The power of government to retaliate against the actions of other nations with financial sanctions should be allowed when those actions resulted in damage to US citizens or US corporations.  Governments need to avoid interfering with commerce when their sanctions will affect the ability of US companies to receive necessary material to manufacture their products.

Doing business has its own set of moral requirements.  Those who do business must abide by their contracts and provide good value to their customers. Disputes can be settled in the courts.

The Trump cabinet confirmation hearings are very instructive. These hearings tell us more about the Senators who are asking the questions.  These questions expose the erroneous moralizing that permeates the US Senate. By contrast, the answers given by the new cabinet show that they are the grown-ups in the room.
