As we
stand here and wait for the ballgame to start
And so
proudly we wear our favorite team’s sweat shirt.
We are
ready to cheer, maybe get in a fight
O’er the
bleachers we watch and are gallantly screaming.
And the
players’ all stare as balls hurl through the air
Gave
proof through the night, referee’s calls were fair
O say
that that our star-studded team will win the game
For the
fans up in the stands and TV watcher the same.
Comedian
Albert Brooks foresaw the difficulties we would have with the National Anthem
and wrote his own versions in 1973. I saw him on TV and never forgot. So, I
wrote my own version above.
