Trump’s Border Crisis Fix

Trump, address on 1/19/19 included the following funding requests from Congress.  He is asking Congress to appropriate the following:

$800 million for humanitarian aid to migrants on the border in Mexico.
$805 million for drug detection technology for ports of entry
2750 additional border agents
75 additional judge teams for backlog of 900,000 cases.
Shorten cases and reform unworkable judicial process and
allow minors to apply for asylum in their home countries.
$5.7 billion for steel barriers in high priority locations. We are building115 miles and will add 230 miles of barriers.

3 years of legislative relief for work permits to DACA for 300,000 DACA immigrants will be given temporary status for 3 years. The H2a visa system should be restored for seasonal agricultural workers.

The cost of drugs in the US is $700 billion a year.

If Democrats reject this, Trump should remove the $800 million for humanitarian aid, the DACA proposal and more Judges.  He should then fund the rest through the existing DOD and Homeland Security budgets and seized Drug Cartel funds.
