Georgia Power provides electric service to
customers in 155 of the state’s 159 counties.
Georgia
Power’s Generating Capacity is 15,307,927 kwh.
Generating
sources are primarily natural gas and coal. See below.
Natural
Gas & Oil 6,297,942 kwh
Coal
5,799,591 kwh
Nuclear
1,959,852 kwh
Hydro
1,087,536 kwh
Solar
163,006 kwh
Costs
reported for fuel sources are below.
Nuclear
0.82 cents per kwh
Coal 3.21
cents per kwh.
Natural
Gas and Oil 2.75 cents per kwh
Average
2.40 cents per kwh
Coal
costs are reported as 2.07 cents per kwh nationally. Georgia Power may be
spending more to solve the coal pond problem.
The
generation cost of Hydro is 0.77 cents per kwh. Hydro and Nuclear are our
cheapest sources of electrical power.
I
encourage Georgia Power to stop building solar panel farms. The 13 cents per kwh cost is a scam.
