The 10
Commandments coupled with Christ’s teachings are the best foundation for
conducting your life to be meaningful, successful and worthwhile. These
principles give us instructions on how to conduct ourselves with each other and
how to find meaning for life.
Generally,
if you do the right things and make the right choices, your life will be
rewarding, you will find solutions to problems, things will work out well and
you will be grateful. If you do the wrong things and make bad choices, your
errors will result in misery and great difficulty. You will need to return to
the 10 Commandments and Christ’s teaching to get your life back on track.
It is not
difficult to live in God’s presence every day if you remain mindful and
grateful to God every day. You don’t
have to spend time in church or in formal prayer, you just need to be quiet and
listen for your gut to give you answers. We are sovereign beings with free will
and are totally responsible for our circumstances. When difficulties befall us,
we are required to work through these difficulties. Failures are instructive
and can usually be overcome.
Our earth
and its place in our galaxy and in our universe is a miracle. Our very
existence is a miracle. We are mammals with souls. We are complex biological
entities with complex chemical reactions that allow us to adapt and survive if
we are wise and careful. We know enough to realize how little we understand
about how we function. We are fragile and susceptible to injury, illness and
death. We are alive for usually no more than 100 years, but we cannot imagine
ceasing to exist.
Our hope
to continue to exist after our death is based on faith. Knowing we lack
definitive proof of our immortality, I still recommend we take the evidence
available to us and believe. This evidence is found in the historical record
and in our daily life experience. We
have each had our difficulties, surrendered to God’s Will and overcame our
difficulties. Our acceptance of this process is based on the belief that God
has a Plan for us and it includes times of trials and victories.
We can
only change ourselves because we are sovereign beings with free will. We cannot change others. They are responsible
for themselves. We can help others based
on our proximity to them. Our families
get first dibs on our time. This is the way it has been for over 60,000 years.
Our
prayer should be for wisdom. The goal for our life is gratefulness. If we achieve a state of gratefulness we will
have succeeded.
