The US
Federal Budget funds Grants to States for expenditures include natural
resources, environment, agriculture, transportation, community and regional
development, education, training, employment, social services, health, income
security, administration of justice, government and other.
States
could not get their voters to increase State and local taxes to fund this
expanded activity, so Congress took it on. Now it’s time to look at this scam.
As
Congress assumed responsibility for more expenses since 1960, the cost of these
giveaways, subsidies and unconstitutional functions have increased from $7.0
billion to $750.7 billion. Total annual federal Grants to States from 1960 to
2020 are listed below.
1960 $7.0 billion
1970 $24.1 billion
1980 $91.4 billion
1990 $135.3 billion
2000 $285.9 billion
2005 $428.0 billion
2010 $608.4 billion
2015 $624.4 billion
2018 $696.5 billion
2019 $749.6 billion
2020 $750.7 billion est.
States
compete with each other and should reassume responsibility for most of these expenses.
Federal Lands should be given back to the States and subsidies for natural
resources, environment, transportation, community and regional development,
education, training, employment, social services, health, administration of
justice, government and other. These can be stepped down by 10% per year and be
eliminated completely by 2030.
Federal
costs for agriculture and income security in the form of Social Security
Retirement, Disability and Medicare should be retained until these programs can
be returned to the market economy.
