Illegal Immigration 2-23-24

The US Border Patrol reports illegal immigration data based on Fiscal Year. FY 2023 begins in October 2022 and ends in September 2023. Most other relevant economic data is reported by Calendar Year. They want to keep us confused.

Border Patrol reports 2.5 million illegal immigrants were processed at the Southern Border in FY2023 and 3.2 million illegal immigrants were processed in total. They want to keep us confused.

To clearly see the increase in illegal immigrants by Fiscal Year you need to use the total column.

FY    Total Processed

FY2023    3.201M

FY2022    2.767M

FY 2021   1.957M

Biden       7.925M

FY  Total Processed

FY 2020   646.8K

Mitrationpolicy.org reports the illegal immigration total in the US is 11 million and gives other data. This appears to include only those who were already in the US prior to 2021. This group who illegally migrated to the US from the 1980 to 2010 was estimated at 20,000. I would make sense that 9 million found the US too expensive and moved back to South America in 2009, when the Great Recession began.

BORDER SECTOR CHIEFS CONFIRM OPERATIONAL IMPACTS OF BORDER CHAOS: INCREASED GOTAWAYS, CLOSED CHECKPOINTS, AND EMPOWERED CARTELS

In Fiscal Year (FY) 2023, CBP arrested 35,433 illegal aliens with criminal convictions nationwide, including 598 known gang members. In addition, 294 illegal aliens on the terrorist watchlist have been apprehended at the Southwest border between ports of entry since the beginning of FY 2021—and those are only the individuals Border Patrol agents have caught. Not only are dangerous individuals attempting to cross our border, but deadly drugs are too. Last fiscal year, CBP, including Air and Marine Operations, seized 27,293 pounds of poisonous fentanyl coming across the Southwest border—enough to kill around 6 billion people. Notably, federal officials estimate they are only able to seize 5-10 percent of all fentanyl smuggled across the Southwest border.

In January 2024, 176,205 illegal immigrants were processed at the Southern Border.

Total Border crossings appear to be under-reported lately. Border Patrol fails to report got-aways. Other information sources put total illegal immigration from 2021 to present at 10 million to 11 million. If got- aways were 2.3 million as reported, then the 7.9 registered by Border Control plus the 2.3 million got aways equals 10.3 million total for 2021 to 2023.

Georgia estimates the population of illegal immigrants is 339,000. Other States may have estimates of their illegal immigrant populations.
