Cobb Commission Chair

VOTE Larry Savage for Chairman on May 24th!, View this email in your browser (http://us12.campaign-archive1.com/?u=88aae1827967be5e8edaa8ff1&id= 4c49ed6ef7&e=df2cd56363)

Fellow Cobb Citizens, Have you seen the most recent campaign mailer from incumbent Chairman Lee?

Chairman of the Cobb Commission, Tim Lee continues to claim he’s a conservative who has cut your taxes three times. His assertions are less than truthful and someone needs to set the record straight. I’ve followed Lee’s actions closely over the last six years. While Lee says he made “cuts” he neglects to explain that these were not really tax cuts...

The reduction in the millage rates were merely a partial reversal of the increase imposed in 2011. At that time the Chairman promised the rate(s) would drop again once the economy improved.

Unable to confirm that there have been three tax cuts, I consulted my 2015 Property Tax bill and my notes from July of 2011 when the Board of Commissioners voted to increase the millage rate. The rates were raised in 2011 and have been lowered slightly each year since, but far from the “RESULTS” Lee is claiming in his mailer.

Millage Rates 2010 2011 Increase 2015 Decrease
Debt Service  0.22 0.33 (50.0%)  0.33 (0%)
General Fund  6.82 7.82 (14.7%)  7.12 (9%)
Fire Fund     2.56 3.06 (19.5%)  3.06 (0%)

All three rates were increased in 2011 but only the General Fund rate has been reduced since and is still not reflective of the original promised lower rate of 6.82.

Please do not be swayed by the misleading information such as the material in the Lee mailer when deciding your vote. I am asking you for your vote. If you want to know more about real issues and where I stand, please visit my website and Facebook page and feel free to contact me if you have questions on this subject or any other topic.

Thank you, Larry Savage

Cobb is Georgia’s poster child for local government abuse.  I was amazed that voters didn’t have the right to approve or reject the Bond debt that came with Braves Stadium deal. Cobb needs to elect Larry Savage to restore voter control.
