Iran Economy


Iran has a population of 82 million, a land area of 636,400 square miles, a nominal GDP of $460 billion, a nominal per capita GDP of $5,383, a labor force of 30.5 million, Unemployment at 12.4%, Inflation at 10.5%.  GDP by sector is Services 54.3%, Industry 35.9%, Agriculture 9.8%.

Main industries include petroleum, petrochemicals, fertilizers, caustic soda, car manufacture, parts, pharmaceuticals, home appliances, energy, power, textiles, construction, cement, food processing, sugar refining, vegetable oil, metals and armaments.

Exports $92 billion, including petroleum 80%, Chemical, Petrochemical, automobiles, carpets, fruits and nuts sold to China 30%, India 16.7%, South Korea 9.7%, Turkey 9.5%, Japan 6.8%.

Imports $71 billion, including raw material 46%, capital goods 35%, food and consumer goods 19%, technical services from UAE 27.4%, China 13.2%, Turkey 7.8%, South Korea 4.3%, Germany 4% and others.

Government debt is 14.2% of GDP, Revenue is $62 billion, Spending is $69 billion.
