Andres
Carnegie 1835-1919 was born in Scotland and immigrated to the US in 1848,
worked in a Cotton factory. In 1853 he joined the Pennsylvania Railroad and
became Superintendent in Pittsburgh in 1859. He invested in steel, oil and
railroads. In 1872, he built a steel mill. In 1889 he consolidated his steel
plants. In 1901, he sold Carnegie Steel to JP Morgan for $480 million.
The
Sherman Antitrust Act had been passed in 1890. Terry Roosevelt became President
in 1901 and broke up the railroads, steel and oil.
