Agricultural
production has always been key to national security. Arable land appears to be
available and expandable. Food production remains vulnerable to droughts,
floods and incompetent governments. Food availability remains vulnerable to
wars, bad roads and temporary disasters. Food costs continue to be controlled
by the law of supply and demand, keeping costs down as much as possible. Food
import and export systems keep food moving to where it is needed.
Many poor
countries have high percentages of arable land, buy many of these countries are
small in overall land mass. African countries lack clean water for drinking,
lack irrigation for production and lack roads for transport to markets.
